Our students at R. Benavides Elementary were given the opportunity to read, read, read, and read for a March Magically Delicious Reading Challenge. Students in 1st and 2nd grade competed against each other to be among the top five word count readers with an 85% Average or higher. The 3rd-5th graders had their own competition to be among the top five readers with an 85% Average or higher as well. We are so proud of these students because they made an extra effort to try and stay at the top consistently reading and testing a quiz for the each book they would read on the Accelerated Reader Program. Our students received two prizes each. They each got a brand new book to choose from the following titles: The Diary of the Wimpy Kid Diaper Overload by Jeff Kinney, Dog Man Twenty Thousand Fleas Under the Sea by: Dav Pilkey, and Dork Diaries OMG! ALL ABOUT ME DIARY! Student also received either a Big Size of Lucky Charms Cereal Box or a bag full of colorful rainbow marshmallows. Students really enjoyed their prizes.
